Join us for the Green Tree Public Library's 2021 Summer Challenge, running from June 14 and ending August 21. Read, have fun and challenge yourself to learn something new this summer! We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Challenge will be more customizable and exciting than ever.
This summer track your reading and activities online. You will get to choose whatever books you’d like to read and then log on your computer or your phone. You can log pages, minutes, or books read to earn points. It's your choice. Parents can also manage their whole family’s accounts at once which makes logging those bedtime books even easier. There are also activity badges you can complete that earn you points as well. The activities are for people of all ages so there will be something for everyone to do all summer long.
No matter how you log your reading and activities, you’ll get points that earn you badges. Every badge that you earn will give you another chance to win in a prize drawing for gift cards. Separate drawings will be done for each age group.
In addition to our Summer Challenge, the library will be offering a wide variety of events for all ages. From storytimes for young children to crafts for adults the library has something for everyone. Miss Emily’s popular virtual storytimes on Facebook will be continuing every other Monday and Wednesday so make sure you like and follow the library’s Facebook page. Book club for adults also will continue throughout the summer on the first Wednesday of every month with June’s selection of Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond. Kids, look forward to some amazing events presented by the Pittsburgh Zoo, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater and many more, as well as crafts and other activities from your very own Green Tree librarians. There’s so much more to do and discover so make sure to check the library’s calendar of events to find out more!
