Let's celebrate black history month with BookFlix!
BookFlix is a unique tool that pairs fiction and nonfiction eBooks for PreK through 3rd grade children. BookFlix thematically pairs fiction and nonfiction titles, designed to bridge learning-to-read and reading-to-learn programs. For instance, BookFlix might pair an animated storybook that will introduce early learners to the delights of reading while sparking curiosity, creating a natural springboard into the paired nonfiction text for deeper discovery.
Beginning Readers can learn about famous black Americans and events. Choose the "People & Places" category in BookFLIX to find the following title pairs that include a short video and animated e-book:
- Amazing Grace (video) and Jackie Robison (e-book)
- Coretta Scott (video) and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (e-book)
- Martin's Big Words (video) and Martin Luther King Jr. (e-book)
- The Other Side (video) and Ruby Bridges (e-book)
- Rosa (video) and Rosa Parks (e-book)
- Show Way (video) and Harriet Tubman (e-book)
