Do your children use digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets? They are very convenient and give us so many resources and opportunities. At a same time, all this technology can be unnerving for parents who want to keep their kids safe while still allowing them to explore. Cyberbullying can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media where people share content. What we can do to help children navigate is to teach them about what threats they may encounter when using technology and what they can do to protect themselves. CyberSmarts is an e-resource that teaches children how to avoid risks online. Library cardholders can access CyberSmarts, a collection of interactive e-books for students in third through sixth grades.
Stopping Cyberbullying is one of the topics addressed by CyberSmarts. Each page links you to examples of the issues with a simple two-choice quiz to help kids decide what the best choice would be in that situation.
