There are some tools that you can use to find bestsellers, new books, and movies, but sometimes these tools might include genres you are not interested in. Wouldn’t it be great if you could receive information about only genres you like or titles written by your favorite authors? You can with SelectReads! SelectReads allows you to find out when new materials of interest are added to the collection. All of the products link directly to the library’s catalog, so you can easily check to see if a title is available at the library or place an item on reserve.
SelectReads is mainly composed of three features:
- Monthly Newsletter: The monthly newsletter consists of pre-populated book lists and newsletters by genre, subject, age group, and format. You can sign up to receive monthly email newsletters of your choice, or simply visit the site to access the lists. To subscribe to the free monthly email newsletter, visit SelectReads and submit your name (optional) and email address.
- New Title Highlights: This newsletter contains the top 10 brand new titles in each category arriving in the library over the past 30 days. Sign up for one or more categories of titles that you are interested in. Once a month, you will receive an email showing those top new titles in your favorite categories. To sign up, visit SelectReads/New Titles and submit your name (optional) and email address. New Title Highlights is brought to you by New Book Alerts. If you would like to see all new titles of your favorite category, visit the website.
- AuthorCheck: This service enables you to create a list of your favorite authors that are currently available in the library’s catalog. You will receive an email notice with a link to the catalog as soon as the library orders a new title by one of your authors. To receive this notification, visit AuthorCheck and sign up with your name and email address, then create a password.
To ensure you receive the notifications, please check your spam and junk folders and add the email address to your contact list. Your personal newsletters include book jackets, author information, book descriptions, and a link to our library’s catalog. If you see a new title that you are interested in, just click “check catalog” to place a hold on the item right away.
