It’s time to welcome Felicity Merriman to the Green Tree Public Library! Felicity is not only a brand-new doll at our library, she’s also the newest American Girl Historic doll in the world! Though Felicity originally debuted thorugh American Girl back in the 1991, she has been retired for over a decade and therefore unavailable to purchase. However, this bright, spunky red-head was just reintroduced to the American Girl family this spring and thanks to a very generous donation, she now has a home at our library.
Felicity Merriman is a bright, active, and daring young girl living in Williamburg, Virginia at the startof the Revolutionary War. Just as the colonies want independence from Great Britain, Felicity yearns for a more independent life from her family. Though her mom would love for her to sit and listen to her school lessons, embroidery properly, and practice good manners Felicity would much rather be riding horses and going on adventures! Felicity believes in fighting for what she wants and can be quite stubborn and headstrong at times, but her perseverance serves her and her family well during the tough days of war.
Felicity, her book, a journal and other accessories are yours to borrow for one week. Pairing history with play, American Girl dolls aim to help foster a love of reading and curiosity about the past in young minds. Popular among young children for many years, American Girl is a name that stands for excellence, imagination, and learning. American Girl Historic dolls, their books, and lessons are aimed at children ages 8 and up.
How can you take Felicity home with you?
Anyone with a valid library card can take Felicity home for one week at a time. Felicity may not be renewed and she must be picked up and returned at Green Tree Public Library. If Felicity is already home with another library friend, we will be happy to place a hold on Felicity for you. You’ll then be notified when Felicity is ready for her trip to your house! Caregivers will need to sign an agreement form when Felicity goes home with you!
What can I do with Felicity at my house?
Lots of things! Felicity will come with a book, a bed, a brush, and accessories! You can even check out a special case that is filled with bedroom accessories for Felicity too! Her additional accessories include a fancy Christmas dress, posters, book, and even a real working radio! Felicity really wants you to read her book, play with her, and write about your adventures together in her special journal! When you take Felicity home, you’ll also get a special notebook so that you can share your adventures with Felicity to everyone who takes her home! Write about how much you liked playing her, your thoughts about her book, or draw a picture of Felicity and you together! When you write in the journal, you’ll be sharing you experience with Felicity with all of the other children who will take herhome in the future! Just be sure to keep her away from water, take care of her belongings, and keep her clean.
And if you really like Felicity and want to learn more about her life during the 1770s, we have her other books at the library for you to take home to read and enjoy.
What happens if I return Felicity late?
Felicity can stay at your house for one week. When she is returned late, you will be charged 50 cents per day. If Felicity is damaged or her kit is lost, patrons will be charged $175.
