Toddler Storytime at Green Tree Public Library is always filled with giggles, action, songs, and books. This morning’s storytime theme, bunnies, was the perfect pairing to a warm spring day and everyone who walked through the program’s doors today had big smiles on their faces! So when the morning’s theme of bunnies was announced, it was no surprises to see so many little ones excited to read (and hop) the morning away.
Throughout the morning’s storytime, we danced with eggs and scarves, learned new songs and fingerplays, and pretended to be bunnies. Of course we read some great books about bunnies too:
Wee Little Bunny by Lauren Thompson
Discover spring through a baby bunny’s eyes in this delightful picture book. Toddlers will love the vivid illustrations that seem almost real and caregivers will love the sweet message of this short story. In addition, great action words are used through the book giving caregivers an opportunity introduce new vocabulary. This cute spring story is the perfect choice for this time of year and would be a wonderful bedtime selection too.
Night Rabbits by Monica Wellington
The season of spring is filled with color and this picture book certainly brings it to life with bold illustrations. Reading this book will send children and caregivers on a colorful adventure through the night with two brave and curious bunnies. It’s a fun adventure, filled with rhyming words and beautiful illustrations.
After storytime, our toddler friends made their very own bunnies. Each storytime craft activity focuses on cognitive development and fine motor skills while fostering independence and creativity. Today we colored with markers and glued paper and pompoms using glue sticks. Some children even practiced writing their names either on their own or with help from a caregiver. The finished products were colorful and perfectly spring!
Toddler Storytimes are held regularly at 10:30 am on Tuesdays for children ages 2 to 3.5 and their caregivers. Please see our Events Calendar for future dates. We hope to see you soon!
