Cross-Stitch with Stitchburgh: A Two-Part Class

Cross-stitch is the world’s oldest forms of embroidery and can be found all over the world. As a popular form of sewing, cross-stitch made by forming X-shaped stitches in tiled-like patterns used to form a picture. Many of us can remember our grandmothers and mothers stitching, but did you know that cross-stitch is making a comeback and continues to be extremely popular today? People of all ages are picking up needle and embroidery floss and embracing cross-stitch again! And now, with our two-part class led by Pittsburgh’s own famous cross-stitcher, Jaci Dean of Stitchburgh, you can get in on the fun yourself!
During this two-part class, our class instructor teach (or review) the basics of cross-stitch with students. In addition, Stitchburgh will create an original pattern for participants to stitch during the class that will be theirs to keep. At the second class meeting, participants will have the opportunity to ask the instructor questions about their work, follow-up with any troubles they experiencing in their pattern, and learn what to do when their artwork once they are finished stitching!
A non-refundable $10 fee is required at the time of registration and will cover the cost of materials. All materials will be provided for students to keep including: needle, embroidery floss, canvas, and hoop. This course is a two-part experience and registering secures your place in both classes. Please be sure you can attend both classes before registering. This course is open to Adults ages 18 and Up, and interested high school students entering Grades 9 – 12. All levels of cross-stitch experience are welcome. Registration is required.
