The regular borrowing period for circulation materials is for a three-week period. This period may be extended at the staff’s discretion. Magazines and DVDs for adults that are under six hours viewing time circulate for one week. Kindles may be borrowed for a three-week period and cannot be placed on hold from other libraries nor transferred to other libraries through delivery. Kindle devices must be checked out during regular business hours and may not be returned via the overnight book drop.
Cardholders may borrow up to 100 circulating items from the library, including up to a total of 25 CDs and DVDs. Cardholders may borrow up to one Kindle at a time.
All materials that are included in the regular borrowing collection are eligible for two additional three-week renewal periods, unless previously reserved by another patron. Kindles may not be renewed.
Any book or material which is returned to the Library past its originally scheduled due date is considered overdue and is therefore subject to a late fee.
|Item Type||Late Fee Per Day|
|Books on CD||$.50|
|Books on MP3||$.50|
|Virtual Reality Views Kits||$1.00|
|Mobile WiFi Hotspots||$1.00|
Late fees will be charged for an item until the fines equal or exceed the price of the item. Patrons having outstanding fines amounting to $10.00 or higher are not permitted to borrow any additional materials until the material is returned and/or the fines are paid below the $10.00 limit. Patron computer privileges are also revoked once the $10.00 fine threshold has been reached.
If the material is not returned within two weeks after the scheduled due date, the patron will be contacted via the mail or e-mail reminding them to return the material. Additional contacts will be made until the items are returned. It is to be noted that any expense incurred in the retrieval of overdue materials will be paid by the patron in addition to the general fine levied.
Patrons may make partial fine payments. Patrons may also pay fines online using the catalog’s My Account feature. If the patron does not already have a PIN number to use the My Account, he/she must first create one.
Partially Returned Items
On occasion, an item will be only partially returned to the library – for example, when a disc is missing from a book on CD set. In instances where the item belongs to Green Tree Public Library, the item will remain on the patron’s record and staff will notify the patron about the missing components via phone or email. If the patron fails to return all components, he/she will be charged for the price of the item, along with a $5.00 processing fee.
The library charges for missing or damaged supplies that contain or complement circulating library materials.
|Accessory / Item||Charge|
|Audio book cases||$6.00|
|DVD cases with one slot||$2.00|
|DVD cases with two or more slots||$3.00|
|Music CD cases||$2.00|
|Puppet kit bags||$15.00|
|Kindle US power adapter plug||$10.00|
|Kindle USB cord||$10.00|
Lost, Stolen, Damaged or Missing Items
When borrowed materials belonging to Green Tree Public Library are lost, stolen, damaged or billed, the responsible party must pay for the item(s). In addition to the listed price, a $5.00 processing fee per item will be added to cover the cost of shipping and handling, processing and staff time. Once paid, the item(s) then becomes property of the patron. Should any lost, stolen, damaged or billed item(s) be returned to the library, staff will make a reasonable effort to contact the patron who paid for the item and hold the item for up to two weeks. The library will not refund money for lost and paid items.
